The Affairalert.com Scam Is Revealed

 Apr, 28 - 2014   78 comments   Scams

Website Details:

AffairAlert.com is another dating site geared towards married men and women. We once again created a basic free account on the site to search and see if we could uncover any deceptive fraudulent behavior on the part of the web site. Not surprisingly we found enough shady business going on to write another Dating Busters report outlining how the deception operates.

Cost:

  • $29.95 for a monthly membership.
  • $49.95 for a 2 month membership.
  • $69.90 for a 3 month membership.
  • $8.90 for a 3 day trial membership.

Features:

  • Search: Search for people based on gender, age, location.
  • Text Messages: Send and receive text messages from people on the site.
  • Quickie: A scientific match making service.
  • Webcams: View cams
  • Live Chat: This site does have live chat.
  • Videos: You can watch videos
  • Friends Network: See a list of who is in your friends network

How Legit Is This Site?

From the get go it was relatively easy to peg this site as not legitimate. Within a few short minutes we got our first email and it escalated from there. Any emails we did received were not able to be read by us because we needed to "Activate Your VIP Pass to Read Now »". This of course means it's time to pay up in order to read any emails you get from the women sending messages to you. Of course we never purchased a membership because we knew there was fraudulent activities going on.

How Can We Prove The Site Is Operating Fraudulently?

As it always seems to be, the evidence was found in the terms and conditions page. On that page they basically admit to fabricated dating profiles (female profiles of course). This is the reason why every single girl on the site looks the way they do, they are not actual members of Affairlert.com. The women are not real and are used as a marketing tactic to push horny men into upgrading to the $29.95 a month membership so they can send and reply to emails and text messages from these women. Once these men find out it's a scam, it's too late since they have given their credit card info to the site.

We can prove that the site operates in a fraudulent manner because all the information you need to make your own judgment is available for you to read in section 11 under "Service Features". Here is the link. It specifically states that they use something called "Ambassadors" (fake profiles created by the site owners). The "Ambassadors" are used for a variety of reasons."Ambassadors" are used to send out phony emails that appear to be coming from real women, when they are clearly not being sent from any real human. Instant messages are another area that are used to deceptively make you believe that you are getting messages from an interested female. You can also give AffairAlert you cell phone number which is then use to send you fake SMS text messages that once again look like you are getting texts from local women looking to hook up with you.

So basically any form of communication from the site is a con to get you to upgrade a buy a monthly membership that is basically worthless since none of the women are real. And the saddest part about this is that In section 11 they have a paragraph that states "You release Company from any liability to You in any manner relating to Your interaction or communications with an Ambassador." So they are stating that you cannot come after them legally for the deceptive use of "Ambassadors". They are trying to scam people but you can't sue them!

Final Decision:

All the evidence is in black and white and available to read directly on their site, so there is really not much more to discuss. This site operates in a misleading manor using fake women to rip people off. Cased Closed.

While cancelling via live customer support agent (start chat), the name Jamar is what showed in the chat. I do not know the origin of this name and it was the only name given in chat. I do not know if it was the first name, last name, or a pseudonym. Though after a quick search, I found nothing on Jumar as a common first or last name. In my mind, using a false name as well for the customer service aspect seems a bit shady.

Even with all that, the response time for central-time US 1700/5pm was very quick. Aside from losing the fees charged to credit card, it was rather painless process to cancel the rebilling. I was a dummy for doing this in the first place, but at least the charges will not continue. Thank you for getting the word out on this scam.

I started affairalert about three weeks ago with the special, buy three months and get six months membership.I updated then started getting messages that never came ti any conclusion, hi baby are you naughty now, make me bust.Iwent over this dozens times, to whereas I dont want spend or waste all that tine then, recieve the same message from the same girl days later whi had hung up on me with no response previously.Like talking to yourself. One girl name Paula and I were back and forth one night, and I told her rhis site was starting to give me a headache because all these woman only wanted to hear sex messages from me.Paula, stopped messaging and profile started to disappear from the site altogether. I am cancelling , glad u looked into the find print. I want my money back too. Is there a way to sue.?

    • Admin says:

      Hey Alonzo,

I’m not sure if there is a way to sue, probably need to consult a lawyer on that.

      • Mr. Jackson says:

i went round and round with them today and put the billing company on the hook, and they said they were going to refund my trial money, so we will see. I have it all in writing so they will honor it or I will get my bank involved if they dont..

I kept contacting customer support and asking them questions and now they just say oh "have a nice day" and they keep cutting me off now

i would love to sue a company like this.

And then pull Jennikas pants down for her lol, Hey Jennika, what about you, you wanna hookup? I dont charge much, but just like they say in their "terms", its strictly for entertainment purposes only. ;0

this company has a huge amount of complaints from a ton of different websites.

I just wanted to check them out, but you cant even do that, just as soon as you even look at your keyboard they charge you for a profile visit. They cant even agree on how many you get, I got that same dude named Jamar or something like that, he says its 8 per 24 hours, others say thats its 9.   I like the ambassodor BS, thats funny.

    • anon says:

Just call and ask for a refund, they will say no, but be stern and polite and they will refund you the money. I did the same, was told that they couldn't refund, I was very persistant about the refund and fruad activity, was placed on a "hold to ask manager for aproval" which only lasted every bit of 30 seconds, and was issued a refund and account cancelation.

      • anon says:

Do you happen to have a number? Because they blew like…sixty bucks from my account…and now that I know it's a scam…that's not making me happy.

    • Alf says:

Yeah I got sucked into this one with a years membership offer for £18 only to find that i may as well gone down the pub and talked to myself for the night, apart from USA members i don't think there are any UK ones..  on their terms and conditions it states that they use 'OC' (online cuties)  artificial members (in other words site staff sat at the other end of the line in the USA i expect, with ficticious member I,D's  to introduce and interact with you to get you used to the site)… now that's where the scam is worst, you will find as i did that 99% of the uk members are actually OC or imaginary members. .. and 99.9% of mail, flirts etc you recieve will be false. … i searched through a possible 500 members and found 3 supposedly live ones, if in fact they were and sent messages etc even subtle messages saying that i did not wish to seek any relationship with them but aired my concerns about this bogus site and just wished to clarify that they actually existed, surprise, surprise not a single reply,, STAY WELL AWAY.

  • Zack says:

Of course there are fake girls but the bigger issue is the fake flirts and fake girts they send to you that are supposedly from members.  I have hundreds of gifts and flirts over 2 months.  HUNDREDS contacted me.  I respond positivity.   Zero messages back.  Not possible!  So they have have fake members and scammers. That is almost normal but fake messaging and blocking messages is not.  I also would like to sue these guys.  Totally fraudulent!!

  • mike says:

I joined afffairalert today i paid for a 3 day membership at first all was ok i set things up and started to use the site then when trying to access other members it would not let me unless i paid for a full membership, which i thought i already had. Anyway i paid again and carried on using the site, but slowly i had a feeling something was not going as i was expecting it to. I then found this site it made sence to me then so i went on the site to stop my membership and ask for a refund for the second paymentas, i feel i was entiled to a refund as was made to pay again when i was already on a full membership but could not access this unless i wasmade to pay again.this is a copy of the conversation i had with the site i went on to cancel my membership.

Please wait for a site operator to respond.

You are now chatting with 'Jumar'

Jumar: Hello, how may I help you today?

: I joined affiaralert today I paid for a 3 day membership after being on the site for a about 15 minutes I was unable to access the site unless I joined as a full member so paid again, am asking for my membership to be cancelled and a retune of my second payment as I believe I am entitled to a refund. As I was already a member so should not need to pay more until after my 3day trial was up, plus I have also found out the site is a fake site so am hoping you can refund my money and cancel my membership

Jumar: May I have your Member ID # or Subscription #. (This is 8-10 digit NUMBER found in your confirmation e-mail when you signed up)

: membership details think this what your asking for

Jumar: Cancellation of membership does not reverse any initial charges placed on your account. It simply removes you from our recurring database so that no further charges are posted. You still have the access for whatever you've paid for.

: I feel that am entitled to a refund for my second payment as I was already a member so I should had full access to the site but was restricted from using the full site for what I had paid for, was made to pay more when I should of had full access

Jumar: refer to the terms of service

    Jumar: thank you

    : so that's it

Jumar: Thanks so much for visiting. Have a great day!

I will be looking in to this further I feel am entailed to a refund

Jumar: 2014-11-19 798751270 Initial Paid Trial Order Transaction

    Jumar: 2014-11-19 798667360 Initial Trial Conversion $53.67

    Jumar: the record clearly shows

    Jumar: you upgraded your account

    Jumar:

Jumar: You can also double check the status/information of your billing, please refer to the link below, If you want to check it yourself. Just provide your username and email or click on Live Chat to talk to a customer service representative. Thank You..

    Jumar: https://epoch.com/en/index.html

: yes but I paid for 3 days first

: i was then unable to access my membership unless i paid for a full membership when i was already a full member

    Jumar: charge has been made

Jumar: and that we cant reverse it anymore

Jumar: please refer to the terms of service

: its not the point and you no this they restricted my access to my memebership which is wrong no matter how much you say otherwise, so don't give me the run around i want my second payment refunded

Jumar: full vip access is working fine

it maybe be now but i should of been able to access it for 3 days before paying anymore this i could not to do unless i paid again which i did but i should not have been restricted to the site till after 3 days no matter what you say this is what happened i feel i am entitled to a refund

Jumar: for the last time sir

Jumar: Cancellation of membership does not reverse any initial charges placed on your account. It simply removes you from our recurring database so that no further charges are posted. You still have the access for whatever you've paid for.

Jumar: Thanks so much for visiting. Have a great day!

    Chat session has ended.

I have removed all my details but thats how the conversation went till they closed it i think i had every rite to ask for a refund i am so sure they are breaking the law bye stopping access when i was already a full member, so just want others to be aware of this site, i wonder what other sites the supporting site covers for if they are all in it looks like it to me, am still going to try to get my refund i beleive am entiled to will see what happens…..

  • WEeee says:

Thanks to this site and the same issues you were all seeing, i looked into this only 2 days after purchasing the 6 month gold vip. anyway, long story short, after realizing how it was fraud, i did the live chat with YOURS TRULY JAMAR and i advised i will be cancelling my credit card and doing a stop payment to retract the funds if they do not honor the fact that i did see the same girl with 3 different profiles (fact) and that i have proof it is fraud (true). under that pretense, the most i would compromise was that they would charge me for this month vip service at 10.95 and the rest would be refunded (whatever balance remained from 70). i got an email confirmation and all already and i am enjoying being a total di*K on the site, emailing everyone i can with bs and nonsense. i changed my profile photo to a monkey and the tweet status to something about knowing this site is a scam haha. anyway, trying to see what kind of rise i can get out of anyone, if they even are real. assuming they arent…enjoy and good luck.

  • Linda says:

My Husband never even knew about the site and just by chance I was checking his email to take care of a cell phone bill and needed to access his email account to do it as I forgot some information and he has nothing to hide as I have all his information and access to all his accounts and seen a lot of messages from this affair alert saying he has basic membership and he is so upset now cause they are trying to get him to check out a sister site and the log in and password is similar to what he uses for personal accounts and the password is simimal to the ones we use to try to prevent hacking etc.. and he is very protective about things like that. We were trying to find out how to cancel account etc and could not find out where to do it… he is so angry he almost threw his phone across the room last night.

Someone somehow set up an account using his information and it is showing up on his email.

We are going to persue this further and find out how and why etc.

    • Courtney says:

Linda this happened to me, but it was in my email adress with my fiancées info. He also uses the same info for his banking. If u find any info on how to get these guys please let me kno

  • Lie to me please says:

I had some money on a throw-away Visa, so I figured I would take it a step further.

I didn't register with a picture and had a decent profile that should have gotten some attention based on it being a "hook up" site.  Also just kept the non-pay account at that time.

Within the first few hours I had a bunch of messages, flirts, gifts and friend requests from "OC Status" women.  I tried replying to each and got only one reply back.  On the one I did get a reply, it made me feel like I was chatting with Cleverbot.

What I noticed from the searches was there are a whole lot of women in 3 small towns that have disappointing marriages.  In fact, there is one town I suspect every woman is registered on the site.  Of the hundreds of desperate women in the area, only 2 or 3 were not "attractive".

Looking at the profiles as I made more "friends".  The profile would say they were local, but the places referenced in their "About Me" would be in other states.  Taking walks in a park that is 850 miles and partying in a big city on the other side of the country seems difficult.

I signed up for the 3-day trial account and paid a few dollars (they took the throw-away card without issue).  With this option, I got more interest from "users", but could only reply once before hitting the reply limit for the day and was recommended to sign up for the full account.

I went all in (no pun intended) and signed up for the full VIP treatment.  As I expected, the friendship requests slowed toa stop and no one seemed interested in me, anymore.  I added a picture to see if that increased the profile attention, and either it was just not attractive enough or they had all they needed from me.

It was an interesting experiment with nothing really for me to lose (other than a few dollars and some self esteem as the program logic didn't find me attractive enough to keep hitting me up).

I wonder if the hits will increase again as the monthly renewal comes up.

  • Gus mitchel says:

Yea, was onsite. Got plenty of attention. But read the fine print of TOS states they use online cuties and bots for your entertainment only. Even tho the site states it is a very different online dating site.  Ok, site states the status of  "OC" Online Cutie plain  and simple but their is another status "SM". But nowhare in the terms of service TOS does it state what the "SM" status means.   In a above post admin states it's a smith status. What the hell is that ?   For myself, I was in a long term relationship for 9 years. We broke up last year. Before I met my ex wife, I was on adult friend finder. Real people and real hook ups. I'm sure they had/ have some  fake profile. But I did hook up with real live women on that site. Some were real freaky. Met up with a couple. The husband did not mind that his wife needed more dick the he could provide. I met her in a public place , just by her self. Got a  BJAND FUCKED HER that day in a near by federal park. Valley forge to be exact. She then told me they she and her husband were swingers. She told her husband either she wanted a divorce of he had to let her have lovers.   She then told me he wanted to watch us have sex. I told her I was not gay and was not comfortable with her husband getting involved with us having sex.

i moved on from them at that point. But AFF is a real site real people.  If you take your time and don't get too pushy about meet ups they do happen very often.

as for affair alert. Total scammer site. Don't give them a dime of your hard earned pay. I stil want to know what a  SM status is on the site ?

  • Jim says:

I was able to determine within a few hours that this was a scam. I sent a note about miss leading and decpetive advertising and they immediatly refunded all my charges.

I wish I had found Datingbusters.com sooner and checked them out before hand.  Live and learn.

  • tim says:

I have just deleted my account, on the site within hours you are approached by FCs, the FC`s are Fantasy Cuties put in by their internal systems and completly made up, they are not real and they represent around 95% of the members, the site uses its own people to text and email the members to make out they are real. If you read their terms of business it states it very clearly what an FC is but you can only see this when you have paid, also the 3 Days Trial goes straight to one month at the same time. Again a complete Scam.

Where the payment system Epoch.com features stay clear they are actively Scamming you. They represent a number of sites and they are all a scam.

  • Wintermute says:

Ok. Signed up. Took a few day to discover what the FC were.
    Started looking closer.
It would appear that even those profiles shown as standard members are mostly fake profiles.

    Here’s the routine.
You get a friends request, asking for email you can be reached at.
Immediately, you get pictures, the first few, commonly clothed.
Normal “Hi, my name is ______” (always an obviously fake name like Lisa Pretty) and a little chatting up about wanting to hook up.
Next is the sob story about bad experiences in the past, and the need to k ow you’re real or “legit”.
Now comes the bit about getting you to sign up on a site that has all sorts of info, and pictures about them…and if you will just send message saying something like “I won’t hurt my princess.” so they will know you’re legit.
The only thing this will prove is you can get usable plastic. ..and if you actually do it, you really are a prime mark.
They are being paid to get people signed up. The site they want you to get on, is hookups.com…yet another scam site.

    My thoughts at this point.
If you actually.contact a real person who’s looking, the message is shunted to one of these lame asses, and the game begins. Furthermore, any pictures sent to these scamers, will end up being used to flesh out…literally…the fake profiles used to get others signed onto the next site.

I’d imagine there would be a few pissed off women, if they saw some of the stuff I’ve been sent. We’re talking things beyond some rather graphic nudes. Pictures of family, and in one case, a very young daughter.

If anyone has idea on how some of this may be used to bring them down, I’d be happy to help.

And to the fools who will say it serves people right, being on a site like this…make sure you know what your tossing out…you may have to eat it. I’m one who won’t respond to any but singles…as that’s what I am.

  • Wintermute says:

    Oh…something I forgot to add.
My screen name here, is the one I used on the site. If it turns up with pictures, they’ve used it without my consent or knowledge.
The only people who’ve ever received pictures from me on any site, are those I’ve gotten to know.
    Why?
Who I am is not a photo. Anyone who has issue with that, isn’t someone I care to have around.

  • Wintermute says:

There’s a new site they will try to get you to. safedatingverified.com
I’d like to add a few things here.
When you get a picture of someone holding a hand written note, look close. The lettering will be far too crisp when you zoom in, or it won’t follow the slight contours of the paper. Most I’ve seen are rather obviously added with photo shop, or another similar program.
If you want further proof, ask for the same picture, but choose a different facial expression. Most of these clowns are going to have quite a few shots to send, but they can’t rearrange a face to suit their needs.

  • Jon says:

Just curious as was reading it costs tokens to im and send gifts, how much money do they scam people to buy tokens?

    • Admin says:

It’s a monthly fee they charge for a membership on AffairAlert.com not sure about the tokens, we have never heard of that.

  • Jon says:

Yeah, there's the monthly fee, but on top of that if you want to send IM's and chat or send 'gifts', you have to buy tokens… like to send a picure of a box of chocolates or a drink or something will cost say 20 tokens, and every IM that you send costs 1 token

  • Jon says:

    Found the answer…
So to send text messages via sms, to send virtual gifts, or to send instant messages you need to buy tokens from affair alert at the following package prices:
    25 tokens =     $9.98
    50 tokens =   $14.98
    100 tokens = $19.98
    250 tokens = $49.98

  • Terri says:

Do they also have fake male profiles for women? It looked like my husband set up an account complete with a photo and it also looked Like he sent out messages. Of course he denied this. Any similar experience s. ASAP please could be a separation

    • Admin says:

From our experience the female profiles on AfffairAlert.com are the ones that are fake.

      • Terri says:

So no male profiles fake as my husband swears he did not set up a profile but it has one. It says he has a basic membership, he also says yahoo stole his info and set this up.  Color me doubtful

  • Terri says:

And does anyone know of the total basic amount charged on a PayPal or other account? The specific amount? That would help but I smell a 200 pound rat. Ty

  • Terri says:

Or amount of 995 in tokens, total with tax, etc…

Please be patient while you are being connected with an operator …

You are now chatting with Liz

Liz:Hello, I'm Liz and I'm here to help you. Please give me a moment to find your account.

Liz:Welcome to Customer Support. How may I help you today?

xsexcraftx:i have issue with affiar alert staff making fake profiles & using fake photos i have proof of illegal activites by your company also my status on profile is pending after paying 70$

Liz:the site uses fantasy cuties. Fc's are real people but they only provide online companionship, you won't be able to meet them in person, reason why they are called virtual girlfriends. Standard Members or SM's are real people as well and you'll have a big chance to see them in person and all their accounts are being reviewed by the admin to make sure they are real. So if you've got some examples of members who you've suspected to be fake we'd love to get more details. If you could send over some usernames that would be great.

xsexcraftx:where is your company based location

xsexcraftx:its not random people making fake prolies & paying for membership at same time its your company creating fake profiles i will not provide that info simply because i know affair alert staff are creating fake profiles & impersonating people without their consent i would like full repayment of money i paid

Liz:we need to know if your suspicion is true so we can remove them form the site. we do not tolerate this kind of act as they are also violating our policies. if you really are concerned that there are fake profile, you can help us by sending their usernames so we can conduct an investigation. you can sent it to our email at [email protected]

xsexcraftx:all right ill give you example but am i able to get my money back

xsexcraftx:really i feel all im doing is helping your company learn how to scam better so i only giving one example

Liz:you can send all the information to our email so they can have it investigated.

xsexcraftx:what about repayment of my money i understand their real people that pay but lot of profiles are not real people too many fakes on your site

xsexcraftx:just tip for your comapny when you make fake accounts their will always be someone who can reverse process of faker mirror the steps the faker took for truth

Liz:again, if you ahve proof, you are free to send it to the email provided above. if they are true, you can get a refund of your payment.

xsexcraftx:but i just want my money back simply because i cannot trust your company based on info i have. fakes on other sites do not act like fakes on your site its not rocket science to figure out whos to blame

xsexcraftx:why cant i put info here for you to look at only take 1 minute for you too see that is fake

Liz:your account has been escalated to a manager. please wait for the email response of the manager within 24 hours.

xsexcraftx:open internet browser and type google images hit enter ….then put this profile pic info in bar beside camera copy paste & click camera

xsexcraftx:when multiple results show up its 100% fake

xsexcraftx:thats just one way of many examples i have

Liz:the profile is an FC. if you want to know more about them, you can clic the TERMS at the bottom of the page. your account is already cancelled and escalated. is there anything else I can assist you?

xsexcraftx:ya my money you dont just cancel me account without refund lol

Liz:it is not up to us if you will get a refund or not reason why your account is escaated

    xsexcraftx:why is my account escalated

    xsexcraftx:im not fake

Liz:as i already mentioned, it is not up to us if you will be refunded. that is why your account is forwarded to the manager.

xsexcraftx:so i will hear from him in 24 hours?

Liz:yes. they will inform you about your refund status

xsexcraftx:maybe you should ask your manager before cancel of my account i try to help you & i get penalized for it just wow

Liz:refund will not be processed if account is still active. you are the one requesting for refund.

Liz:i have informed you how to send the fake profiles but you insisted on refund. we cannot escalate for refund request if account is still active. is there anything else?

xsexcraftx:ok i will wait 24 hours for reply thank you i have documented & saved this conversation have a nice day

    • Admin says:

Thanks for posting your conversation with AffairAlert.com customer suppport they could care less about fake Fantasy Cuties profiles and basically play dumb and pretend it’s legitimate..

  • xsexcraftx says:

hi just follow up i called them & i was told only 2 types of accounts FC star= fake  computer generated & standard. Was also told if someone else upgraded you wouldnt  see them in search or be able to contact them. Anyways i told them i have millioniaires in family & legal action will be taken i found flaw in there terms & conditions which states fc are used to monitor site which is impossible for staff to do  when computer generater is constantly creating new ones so i got 5 month refund out of 6 months i paid for.

do you think most of the sites are a scam like  snap milfs ? this woild be very helpful for me to know as i am disabled with a head injury so could you please keep checking thease sites out for us your doing a great job i think i live in England thank you again keep up the good work  … BRI

  • […] Below we've included a screenshot taken from BonedMilfs. They have a set of questions when you visit their site that they want you to answer. In this particular situation we needed to answer 4 different questions. But as we found out it really doesn't matter how you answer the questions, you always gain access to the dating site at the end of the questionnaire. This is because the questions are nothing more than a deceptive marketing tactic. In the screenshot below they ask us to maintain the identity of these women a secret. Logically if you want to gain access to the dating site you should answer yes I will agree to maintain the identity of the secret women. But what we did was we answered the question no and we answered all questions that should have been answered yes with a no. At the end of the questionnaire we were thanked and then redirected to the dating service which is called AffairAlert.com which is nothing more than a scam. […]
