Overview

LocalTemptation.com was brought to our attention because we received a bunch of spam emails with links directing us to the Local Temptation web site. From there we joined the site so we could do a full investigation to uncover the truth about this site. Was it a scam, was it a legit place to meet real people? All of these questions and more will be answered in our investigation please read it below.

The Use Of "Virtual Profiles" Is Used By LocalTemptation.com

Do you think it's okay to trick people by creating fake profiles and then pawning them off as real members? We think it's a problem if a dating site is intentionally using fraudulent business practices such as creating phony profile pages even if they tell you about it. This is the exact scenario being played out on the front page of LocalTemptation.com. They tell us that they have "computer-generated virtual profiles that are targeted to me and my interests and sent by local Temptation". How they think this is ok is beyond us. Just because they're telling us that they're creating fake profiles doesn't make it right! It's unethical, fraudulent and most likely illegal!

Fictitious Profiles Explained

To add insult to injury LocalTemptation.com divulges that they "post fictitious profiles" on their website. Obviously this means that they create bogus female profiles that are then uploaded to their website. Why are they doing this? There are a couple of answers to that question. The first one being that Local Temptation isn't really a dating site. Yes there are thousands of men who join but the amount of females joining this site is very low. This doesn't work too well if the men joining the site think they're going to be able to meet women for casual encounters. So to make it seem more enticing they create fake profiles of women only. These profiles seem real. The profiles have everything you would see in a regular profile including photos, age, location, occupation and so on. But they are dishonest, untruthful and are making a dating site look real when it's not. And since the website is confessing to the fact that they create fictitious profiles who are we to argue with them, obviously it's true. The chances of you coming across a virtual profile are over 99% because 99 out of 100 profiles on this site are totally fabricated!

Stolen Photos Used To Make Artificial Profiles

These people are really despicable. They are actually stealing photographs from various sources online and from there they create fake profile Pages. The people in these photographs have no clue that their pictures are being used on local Temptation. Not only is that illegal it's shameful. Also, how would you feel if all the sudden you saw your picture plastered on a hook-up site without your consent? What they're doing is completely illegal. You can't just copy peoples pictures and then use them for whatever you want especially on a casual sex dating service. Many of the photographs being stolen are of amateur porn models and we doubt they would be pleased to know that their photographs are being used on this site. Below are just a few examples of who knows how many stolen profile photos.

The Messages You Receive Are Fictitious

Unfortunately they just they don't stop at making up fake girls. The next part of their deception is with the computer software programs they like to use to send people automated email messages to the people who join their site. It's very simple to understand how it works. You join Local Temptation and shortly thereafter you will start receiving messages. However, if you try and email the person or reply to any email messages you will automatically be redirected to a secondary page where you must purchase a paid membership so that you can communicate with other members on the site (including the fake women). And of course all the automated emails are being sent from the fake virtual profiles that they are behind. It's a double whammy, you receive fake email messages and the emails are coming from non-existent female members. This is all about money. The people behind this will do everything in their power including lying and tricking anyone they can into buying a paid subscription so they can make recurring monthly fees.

Paid Employees Operate The Bogus Profiles

How would you feel if you bought a membership on a dating site only to find out that the person you were chatting with wasn't who they say they are, AND they're actually being paid to sit and chat with you? Unfortunately that's the exact scenario being played out on LocalTemptation.com. This is completely verified if you take the time and read the terms and conditions page where they state that they hire and employ people who interact with you as part of their compensated employment. Is it illegal? Is it a fraud? The answer has to be yes to both of those questions. How can a dating site hire people to pretend to be interested in looking for a date, when they are actually paid to chat? This should be a clear-cut case of fraud. There is absolutely no way that it's ok and justified to make a dating site and hire a staff of people who are paid to talk to members. It's trickery at its worst!

You're Not Allowed To Make Fake Profiles BUT they Are?!

This is going to make you laugh and make you angry all the same time. When we were reading the terms and conditions we came across a very telling statement that states that "the creation of fake profiles that do not describe you are prohibited". But on that same page they themselves admit that they create fictitious profiles! Talk about a double standard! How is it okay for a dating site to create fake profiles but you are not allowed. How about this, no one should be creating fake profiles especially the owners of a dating site who are intimately involved in creating thousands of fictitious profiles on their own website. You can read the statement in section F.

They Confess To Everything!

We saved the best for last. This piece of evidence is probably the most important piece of evidence in this review. The terms and conditions page is written by the owners of local Temptation.com so we assume they knww what they wrote. What they wrote was quite shocking. In the terms and conditions they admit that they "post fictitious profiles". They also confessed that they "use automated programs that attempt to simulate your communication with another human being but none really exist". These programs are used to send and reply to emails and instant messages. And they also admitted that the emails we receive while on the site "may seem genuine, authentic and personal but they're not. The contents of the emails may seem real but they are completely false". If you want to read all of this and more you can click on this link and be taken directly to the terms and conditions page.

  • LOCALTEMPTATION.COM, we may post fictitious profiles, generate or respond to communications by means of automated programs or scripts that simulate or attempt to simulate your intercommunication with another real human being (though none really exists and any dialog is generated by programming)
  • and we may employ or contract for the paid services of real persons who may interact with you as part of their compensated employment.
  • While these communications may seem genuine, authentic, and personal, they may be broadcast simultaneously to a large number of persons and possess none of these qualities. While their contents may appear to be true, they may be quite false; while their contents may appear to sincere, they may be quite disingenuous. Sometimes, we may use these techniques or others like them for other business purposes, too, including, but not limited to those cases in which we monitor and/or investigate into operations, including but not limited to allegations that you or others have violated this Agreement.

Final Decision:

The site is completely fraudulent. If you're looking to hookup with women this site will not do it for you. You have a much better shot at meeting women in a nightclub than ever finding someone on LocalTemptation.com. Recommending this site anyone is not something we can do. On top of the fact that the website confesses everything described in this review, why would anybody want to use this site ever?

  • rich says:

    Dear Dating Busters,

I wanted to make contact , as alas I was stung by joining three of these so called genuine sites…
I joined local temptations, and seemed to get the now established pattern of female members expressing interest, some evening sending contact email… Of course, upon responding, either directly, or to furnished email, nothing came back! In tandem with this, my member profile seems to have filtered across to other sites, which I had not visited, let alone signed up to. Initially, having had complimentary replies, I thought, perhaps they'd looked at my mug shot, and had a change of heart- but having received a few dozen replies, this seemed very unlikely, and I smelled a rat!
I remonstrated with their so called customer services, having read a couple of online reviews from men who'd had a similar experience! I suggested that they were fraudulent scum, and stronger words, to which I received a bland system generated or generic reply… They weakly defended their touts for money, saying that they had hundreds of thousands of genuine members, but that their fraud department detected up to 500 fake profiles a day?!
Usually I'm pretty shrewd, and I took this pathetic impersonal 'dear member' response apart. I suggested that it could be remotely conceivable that all the responses I had were from fakes, that had breached their antifraud nets, but this didn't seem credible. I further suggested that if they were detecting 500 false profiles daily, that equated to around of 3,500 per week, and over 150k per year!! Hardly reassuring to prospective money spending members for a service akin to Russian roulette as to whether or not it's all legit?!
The second site was easy sex.com, and well, I was appalled that without prior warning, upon opening a message, I was immediately upgraded to 'premium member'… I sent a strongly worded email insisting that I had not intended to be a paid member having had one month elapse, to no avail, nor had I authorized this transaction!!
They did respond and refund my money.
Any genuine guy looking for relations of a sexual nature, or indeed something more permanent seems to be in a minefield of fraud…
The third and final site is the elegantly titled 'shag city'… I joined recently, as a good friend of mine had suggested it….Within the first 48 hours I'd received close to 40 replies, some appear genuine, and give area where they live, others do not, which makes me suspicious…Some very attractive women, modelesq even, which made/makes me highly suspicious again. I haven't as yet shut this down, and wondered if you could shed any light as to the legitimacy of this site?
We live in an age where internet deception is a growing problem, and it seems that most, if not all of these dating sites are a con! I've had msgs from xmeeting, horny affairs, etc, but won't touch these with a barge pole. Doing some more digging, it seems that many of them are linked to an address in Guernsey, which is a huge red flag.
I suppose the only safe bet is something like match.com….
It's appalling that there isn't more 'policing' of these sites, but, then, I guess the resources available, and cross border complexity make it difficult to pursue these crooks?!

    Regards,

    • Tony mead says:

You have asked in your letter if shag city is a scam YES! It is don't purchase any credits to talk to the so called ladies. You are talking to a computer not a lady every profile on this site is a fake. Don't waste your money. Regards Tony

    • Stan Lakocy says:

Do u have a list of other sites using bogus profiles?

  • Tony. says:

Hi everyone who reads these reviews. My name is tony and I so foolishly signed up for this site for the sum of £29.99 thinking that it looked genuine. However sfter I had been a member for a week approx I decided that anyone and everyone of the women I contacted where fantasy. I cancelled my membership not expecting any refund but still being allowed access until my subscription ran out at the end of the month that I had paid for, instead they have stopped me from getting back onto the site to carry on trying to get a date.Who knows I could have got lucky. Some chance.  They took my money and made themselves richer like a lot of these sites do. They are the scum of the earth who play on men,s weaknesses.Particularly the widowed or the single men who have not found a partner yet.  I would imagine that they do the same to women as well if they are lucky enough to get any to sign up.

Scammers, scum, crooks That is what they are and then some. Tony.

    • Admin says:

      Hi Tony,

Local Temptation is unfortunately a fraud which is still ongoing. Sorry to hear about your situation of losing £29.99. Thanks for leaving a comment and helping us to warn others about this ongoing scam.

      • Nikita Gorodilov says:

Hey my name is Nikita and I was thinking of joining Local tempations, arousing dates, online crush etc, the membets seemed to be interested in me because I live in Seattle area. If I join any of those sites, they are all basically bots, which means the pictures and messages I saw there were all fake? So no one likes me at all then. I really wanted to join one of those sites, but I am afraid it's a scam, those pictures sure look real, someone help me get a date. I'm speak Russian too.

  • Stan Lakocy says:

Is this illegal too if some sites actually show you which profiles are fake?

  • Stan Lakocy says:

If they clearly indicate which profiles are bogus ones and it's true then you have ability to avoid these profiles at least.

  • Stan Lakocy says:

What about other sites claiming to be just for verification purposes asking u about your c/c details but then starting charging u monthly fees unauthorized. A lot of girls use them pretending it's just for their security if u want to meet them even for business purposes but in reality they just want money from you since they are affiliates of these sites with their referral links. There are a lot of them even on Skype.

  • todd says:

when you fill out the Question that they ask you at the end they ask you for a credit card verification of your age you have gave all the information that they need if you donot have a credit card you cannot send message talk to anybody so why is it like?

  • Jack says:

I got caught up in this insidious SCAM. I noticed that as soon as I paid, the onslaught of hits stopped, but started again from another like site. It tried to get me hooked there as well. I am $60 poorer but wiser. DO NOT GET hooked on these SCAMS. There are even “reviews” sites that in are their pockets. Fooled once, shame on you……..

  • Joe Doakes says:

Don’t give your credit card number to any dating sites. They’re laughing at you while they’re stealing your money. Don’t be fools.

  • Joe Doakes says:

Think for a minute, Guys. Do you really think that women who have gorgeous faces like movie actresses and models would need to list themselves in websites to find a date? They’re phones ring off the hook. They can selectively sell their time to the highest bidder by the hour in “”the world’s oldest profession””…and I don’t mean fortune telling. Next time you’re going on vacation, check into the Beverly Hilton Hotel and see what’s walking into the lobby. The most beautiful starlets in the world. Bring a suitcase full of hundreds. Trust me, you won’t be lonely for long. Go out to the pool and sit in a lounge chair. The bees will be buzzing by to check you out. They all want to know whats in my attache case! Pop it open and see what happens. Instant desire.
