Overview

With this review we ended up creating a free basic account on the site in order for us to do a legitimate analysis of their services. What we found however was something completely different with the site asking for a credit card to verify that you are 18 years of age.

Read The Fine Print Before You Give Up Your Credit Card Info!

This site like numerous other dating sites that we have exposed claims to be 100% free but then asks for your credit card information to "verify your age". Unfortunately this is all part of their scam. Once they get your credit card information and you submit it on that web page you are automatically being charged to two separate sites that are listed below as evidence. Make no mistake about it this is completely calculated fraud and they want your credit card information simply to start charging your credit card while claiming the site is 100% free to use. The charges include Pornvideocloud.com at $39.72 per month and $39.95 a month for a "platinum membership". These charges are snuck in without your permission, and the text is light grey in color so they can conceal it from you.

Fake Women aka "Hookup Assistants"

Another huge problem is that this site has numerous profiles that are actually fictitious. Using reverse image software as well as Google image search we have identified many, many profiles that are found on other sites (many of which are adult porno sites). FreeHookups.com utilizes something called "Hookup Assistants" aka fake profiles. These "Hookup Assistants" are fake profiles plain and simple. We have included the most important parts of the Terms and Conditions page.

Taken from Terms and Conditions page:

  1. 14.2 An HOOKUP ASSISTANT may be a digital actor, an avatar or a synthespian (e.g. a computer generated "person" or "character").
  2. You acknowledge that You understand that some of the profiles and Members displayed on them are not actual members of the site. HOOKUP ASSISTANTS are not associated with any other user of the site.

Below are just two examples of the profiles we found on this site that have the exact same images that can be found other sites (usually adult sites). You can take a look at the links we have supplied below so you can see the exact place where the photos have been taken from. Since this site admits to creating fictitious profiles we can only assume that the images provided in the fictitious profiles aka "Hookup Assistants" have been copied from other online sources such as adult image sites etc. The fact remains that these woman in the profiles are in fact not legitimate members of FreeHookups.com.

Same image found on numerous sites one is this one.

fake-profile-2

This exact image can be found on countless sites such as this site, here and can be found numerous times through Google image search.

"Hookup Assistants" aka Paid Employees

Did you know that "Hookup Assistants" also identifies people who are employed by FreeHookups.com, to interact with you as part of their employment. If you don't understand what that means it signifies that they employ and pay people ("Hookup Assistants") to interact with you and pretend to be legitimate members looking for dates. The real truth is of course is that these women are fake and it's literally their job to string you along and trick you into submitting your credit card information so the site can make money off of your gullibility. Once again the website admits to this in detail directly on the terms and conditions page so this is irrefutable and it can be 100% proven just by checking the terms and conditions page. We have any included the specific text that describes the use of "Hookup Assistants" and how they are employed by the site.

Taken from Terms and Conditions page:

  1. HOOKUP ASSISTANTS may be employed by freehookups.com or a third party to enhance Your online experience.

You acknowledge that You understand that some of the profiles and Members displayed on them are not actual members of the site. HOOKUP ASSISTANTS are not associated with any other user of the site.

Fake Emails From Automated Bots aka "Hookup Assistants"

The "Hookup Assistants" are also responsible for sending out computer generated emails that make it appear as if they are coming from local women. Once again this is not just a theory is undeniable fact for the simple reason that it has been included in the Terms and Conditions page. If you have received any emails from women on the site you better take a look twice because it's probably sent through "Hookup Assistants", no one is actually sending you those email messages. It's all a trick to get you to pull out your credit card and pay for a monthly membership to a site that scams people left and right. And to back up our claims, you can read the text below that has been copied directly from the Terms and Conditions page.

Taken from Terms and Conditions page:

  1. The HOOKUP ASSISTANT services can include the posting of information, pictures and/or communications directed to You. Such messages may take the form of any communication currently permitted on the Website.
  2. Additionally by accepting these Terms, you understand, acknowledge, and agree that, the HOOKUP ASSISTANT may contact both free Members and paid Subscribers via text based communication either within the site and/or via email notifications in order to increase activity and to monitor the compliance to these Terms.
  3. You responds to, or initiates any communications or interactions with our HOOKUP ASSISTANTS You fully understand, acknowledge, and agree that any response or exchange between the HOOKUP ASSISTANT and You is solely for entertainment purposes, and will not result in an physical meeting between the HOOKUP ASSISTANT

You Can Never Meet "Hookup Assistants"

Also something to understand is you can never ever meet a "Hookup Assistant" in person because of course they are not real people who are looking for dates. Once again in the terms and conditions page this website clearly states that fact. You cannot and will not have a physical meeting between a "Hookup Assistant". The only reason they use "Hookup Assistants" is because there are not enough real women on the site and in order to trick men into upgrading purchasing paid monthly memberships they need to use this scam.

Taken from Terms and Conditions page:

You fully understand, acknowledge, and agree that any response or exchange between the HOOKUP ASSISTANT and You is solely for entertainment purposes, and will not result in an physical meeting between the HOOKUP ASSISTANT.

Final Decision:

From beginning to end this site is nothing but a con. They claim it's a free dating site but they ask for your credit card information and then they use a multitude of other tactics from fake women to automated email to trick you into giving them your credit card information . All the evidence proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that this site is a fraud and a scam.

Thanx for clarifying the scams and warn people.I was curious to find out whats all the hookup sites about and went through a many of the different sites member profiles and yes many have exactly the same profiles and pictures. Thanx again.

  • Bob Sorenson says:

A lot of simulated dating sites, i.e. bot ranches go to a little bit of effort at least to pretend they're legit social networking venues–this is not one of those sites, hahahaha. Every 4th click or so they run a splash page ad of some porn star trying to sign you up for a cam subscription. The text of the "friend requests" and "hook-up invites" you get from the "women" on the site is typically comical purple prose, totally overwrought or just so unnaturally forward that it's all obviously fake and nothing you could imagine a non-bot saying to you in the real world. Also, right-click Google Image Search is your friend, heck out all the ex-girlfriend amateur sites & Brazilian supermodels they get their photos from.

I did run into a few profiles that were primitive yet un-random enough to seem to have genuine authors but the people behind these no doubt abandoned ship immediately and there was no sense in messaging them. You gotta be on the lower end of the bell curve to spend more than 15 minutes here.

  • Bob Sorenson says:

Almost forgot the funniest thing (or most alarming, depending on your pov)– it sends your password in cleartext in the URL when you log in! Needless to say you, only ever use a unique pw on fleabag sites such as FreeHookups but it goes more to their overall slapstick quality

  • bg says:

I thought this was fake, you start getting all these messages but can't reply unless your'e a gold member. and why do they need to verify your age with a credit card no.?

  • chris says:

Pls anybody knows how to deactivate my credit card from that site

    • Kevin says:

I'd like to know myself, like Chris, how to deactivate my card from the site..if anyone has a method let us know, thank you!

Tell your bank or card provider that your card is lost or was stolen and they will cancel the card immedietly

look on your bank statement there will be a a phone# on there , if it's just a billing firm just what account it's for and get there # and cancel!

kevin…i also thought it was or could be legit.. because it was on the plenty of fish page…ive been burned latley..i dont want to date and find a life partner…i want a hookup fbw at best..does anyone know a legit srx site in australia…

    • Fritz says:

I saw the link on POF there too, along with one for their sister scam site Easysex. The links no longer work, I found these sites by typing the URL into Pale Moon. POF should be ashamed of themselves for leaving the dead promo link in there, but not posting an apology to anyone who may have been taken in by these scammer whilst the link was still functional. For whatever reason the promo link to MilfsHookUp is still there and function, they should take it down immediately. POF used to have a casual encounters section a few years ago, I never met up with anyone from there but I exchanged messages with a few people on it a few times. It would seem that POF would rather direct people to credit card scam sites then have a section that may have some minor adult content, or attract people who have no interest in marraige and might want to fill a carnal need.

  • Kubla Kahn says:

It seems all dating sites including match.com are junk with no real women to bang. Try plentyoffish.com to get laid. The problem is that every American woman thinks they are a moviestar, and all men are dogs too stupid to find it anywhere else. POF works, but it's so lame that I nearly cut my face off to prove I don't give a shit. Pretend you are Rambo, and post a rough picture of yourself or someone who looks close to you lol.

  • joe says:

can you get your money back?

    • david says:

yes joe..i rang customer support and ranted and raved..it took 2 weeks but i got my money..be persistant. they will try offer free extended membership to their scam…..reply pls if you have luck..i mainly used the words i was after a real woman..i was tricked how dare you.and repeat haha worked for me mate

  • Steve says:

I have been fooled , it has cost me more than I expected . I have cancelled my membership , my card number and bank account have changed . I will not get fooled again .

  • mike says:

  • Steven says:

Been on this scam ass website and got suckered too. As a gold member, when I clicked on "my Inbox" tab I was directed to some other stupid porn site that said "you already have a subscription to this site". WHAT? I believe there is a contact phone number for the billing company (oddly enough, it's in another country). I did, however, talk to a real person and asked why the hell I was charged twice for one account. He explained that I was "account active" in another site. I told him to refund my money (I cancelled my account with freehookups a few weeks prior) or I could simply direct him to my attorney. Money was refunded two days later. Obviously, most people think men will fall for a pretty woman with nude pics. Ask yourself one question. "Why on earth is this model superstar looking woman emailing a guy like me when she could have any man on earth?"

  • Mike says:

Equally surprised when I found credit card payments that I did not recognise. THREE different sites charging me "membership", two of which I had never even heard of.

Reading everything here certainly explains why the "person" on the other side FAILS The Turing Test!

    • david says:

if you do decide to become a member on any site…get a load and go card from the post office. they cost 6 dollars and are a reusable visa card. u put the ammount on that the site costs thats it….even your name becomes valued cardholder….its working for me. no repeat charges from these bloody scams

  • Kenneth says:

This is only one of many. I don't think anything can be done because they openly disclose what they are doing in "terms and conditions" just buyer beware,

  • James says:

    To whom it my concern

I was a member of this site, an still is but not much longer as I changed cell phone carrier an I don't think that I be going back on it again, my problem is that this has pop ups as you try to get rid of them it jumps you over to live cam or it clicks you out of the site an you would have to get back in just to read your massages!

That is one more thing wrong with this site, is the endless massaging with out any actually meeting anyone on in real life! You get to see pictures to whom you are talking to that if they are really the one you are talking too.

  • kenneth says:

i think personaly that swipeflirts is a scam mostly just webcam girls.its free membership but you have to pay 50 dollars a month to talk to them. like sierously.

  • Fritz says:

Believe it or not Plenty Of Fish used to have a promotional link posted to FreeHookups, as well as it's sister scam site Easysex , the links no longer work, the MilfsHookUp link still does though. They have this whole process with creating an account, including a user name (this was how I found out that they were run by the same outfit since they said my username was already taken) then you end up at a page asking for your credit card information. This set off a "Red Alert" immediately, why does a free membership require credit card info? The answer, because they intend to run up a load of bogus charges on your account. I really have to wonder why the credit card companies don't just block the company behind these sites, it would save themselves and their customers so much agrevation.

In any event they are still sending me emails saying that Jenny Jones, or Abigail Smith, wants to hook up with me, this is especailly amusing since I never went past their pay wall before clicking off, so there was no way that I could have created a profile before doing so. If the servers these clowns use are inside the U.S or Canada how come the various States Attorneys General, or the Attorney General of Ontario, can't shut them down like they do with the gambling sites?

  • Manuel Valderrama says:
